Deborah Robin, Ed.D.: Art Historian and Ceramic Artist

Monday, October 27, 2025,

3:00pm – 4:00pm,

ASA Koffler Great Room and Zoom

Humans have been making unauthorized images on walls for thousands of years, from ancient Roman drawings to today’s elaborate murals.  In her presentations, Deborah Robin will explore our timeless urge to leave a mark. In Part 1, you’ll learn the difference between graffiti and street art, gain a historical perspective, and see many varieties of contemporary graffiti. Expect a generous dose of Banksy’s cheeky, satirical work, plus plenty of examples from other street and graffiti artists. New to the topic? No problem–this is an image-rich tour with the jargon decoded, so come curious and leave street-savvy. You’ll never look at a spray-painted wall the same way again.
