Keoki Skinner: Former investigative reporter; 30-year resident and multi-faceted tour director in Agua Prieta, Sonora

Monday, November 17, 2025,

3:00pm – 4:00pm,

ASA Great Room and Zoom

Keoki Skinner will be introducing Agua Prieta, a Mexican border town about 2 ½ hours southeast of Tucson in Sonora, Mexico.  He’ll share how making this place his home was a “fluke of journalism” that led to his marrying a Mexican national, starting a family, building a house, and becoming  an entrepreneur.  Unlike major tour companies, he provides multi-faceted tours of the town that focus on what you don’t see, the underbelly of this dynamic economy.  In order to better understand the relationship between Mexico and the United States today, Keoki feels we must understand the role our country played in Agua Prieta’s revolutionary history.  He’ll show us how Mexicans live on the edge of the place where two complex cultures came together.
