Although pain is one of the most common human experiences, the scientific discipline of pain research and the medical sub-specialty of pain management are relatively new fields. Unless you have recently been treated by a pain clinic, you may wonder what they do that might differ from your primary doctor’s care. A pain clinic specializes in the diagnosis and management of chronic pain and works to reduce or eliminate it with the goal of improving quality of life.

Dr. Bailey, from The Pain Institute of Southern Arizona, will join us to discuss everything you need to know about pain medicine. Trained at the Mayo Clinic, Dr. Bailey will go over common ailments and the various interventional options that are available to treat all kinds chronic pain including knees, hips, spine, shoulders, neck.  He’ll explain exciting new developments on the horizon for those who want to live their best life!

Christopher Bailey, MD, is an ACGME fellowship-trained specialist in Interventional Pain Medicine and a Physician Anesthesiologist who has been recognized as an “Emerging Leader” by the American Society of Anesthesiologists and currently serves as a Board Member and the Communications Chairperson of the Arizona Medical Association. He attended The University of Arizona for his undergraduate studies and graduated from the Mayo Clinic School of Medicine where he trained in Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine, and served as Chief Resident with the academic rank of Assistant Professor.  At the Physical Pain Institute of Southern Arizona,  he specializes in spinal cord and peripheral nerve neuromodulation, regenerative therapeutics, and novel interventional approaches to chronic pain.  He’s excited to return to Southern Arizona where he was raised.
