Women have been celebrated as composers throughout history, though their works and names often have fallen into obscurity following their deaths. The composers under discussion in this lecture are currently enjoying a joyful and well-deserved resurgence of interest in scholarly and artistic circles. Dr. Elizabeth Schauer will provide a brief introduction to ten outstanding female composers and share sample recordings of their engaging works.
