ASA Koffler Great Room and Zoom
Lyn Loveless looks forward to sharing her love of the natural landscape, geology and vegetation of Texas Canyon Nature Preserve, 1900 acres of stunning beauty accessible to both hikers and nature lovers, and only 40 minutes from Vail. An Art Gallery, American Indian Museum (the Amerind), and a Research center also share the former ranch acreage. In broad terms, Lyn will discuss the geological events leading to the unique rock formations that characterize Texas Canyon as well introduce both early indigenous residents and 19th century ranchers who homesteaded the area. As a plant researcher, she’ll delineate some major plant communities that occur on the property and show slides of some of the important plants that make up this landscape, with comments on their biology and their possible uses by indigenous residents.
