Welcome to returning ASA Board Member Stan Davis
By Patti Woodbury Kuvik
Stan Davis has been a resident of Academy Village since 2007 and is currently serving his second term as an ASA board member. He graduated from Brown University with a BA in anthropology. An archaeological dig in Alaska strongly shaped his appreciation for collaboration and the power of shared goals.
During graduate school in the Vietnam era, Stan joined the U.S. Navy, launching a twenty-year career in military intelligence with assignments at sea and on land. Following his retirement from active duty, he continued his work in national security as a consultant in the Washington, D.C. area for another two decades.
Stan and his wife, Maggie, were drawn to Academy Village by its commitment to lifelong learning and active community engagement. He served for several years as editor and contributor to the community newspaper, Village Voices. Recognizing the growing importance of digital communication, Stan developed and now manages the Village’s Facebook page, extending its reach to a global audience.
Stan’s background in anthropology, national security, and public service informs his thoughtful leadership approach. He values stepping back to see the broader picture, understanding diverse perspectives, and considering how today’s decisions shape tomorrow’s outcomes. He supports expanded outreach and a stronger partnership between ASA and the HOA, with improved use of shared resources to ensure a vibrant future for both.
Stan and Maggie enjoy exploring the diverse cuisine of Tucson, with La Frida Mexican Grill among their favorites. And while a true Philly cheesesteak — or a waterside crab shack — may be hard to find locally, Stan says there is no other place they would rather call home.
Welcome again, Stan!
