It is no surprise to Arizona Daily Star readers, radio listeners, or TV viewers that water management is a critical environmental issue in Arizona. The issue is exceedingly serious because of the reduced amount of water that will be available from the Colorado River. In this presentation, Arizona Daily Star environmental reporter Tony Davis will discuss current water issues based on his extensive analysis of water policy for more than 20 years.  He has covered a wide range of issues ranging from limits to regional growth, groundwater use, transfer of water rights, agricultural water rights, and the politics of certification of assured water availability.

Tony Davis is a graduate of Northwestern University.  He’s covered water issues and other environmental problems in the Southwest since 1981 for three Arizona and New Mexico newspapers and has written regularly for the biweekly environmental magazine High Country News.  After more than 27 years at the Arizona Daily Star, Tony was recognized as one of the “Stars of the Star.”
