3:00pm – 4:00pm,

ASA Great Room and Zoom

Being close to Halloween makes it an appropriate time to hear a presentation about vampires and how they came about. Vampires continue to stalk our literature, films, and television screens, finding new ways to feed in an evolving media landscape. While today’s vampire may take various forms, Bram Stoker’s 1897 novel Dracula created the template for modern vampire tales. But the vampire was not always an alluring nobleman.  Dr. Benjamin Jens will explore the Balkan origins of the vampire myth and trace its rise from village folklore to Victorian London and beyond.
