Tucson Medical Center has been providing continuous service to Southern Arizona from the day it admitted its first patient in 1944.  TMC’s roots extend back to the 1920s, when the internationally known Desert Sanatorium began operating as a tuberculosis treatment center and health retreat.  As one of the major hospitals in Tucson today, it’s important to know how it is moving into the future and providing the services our community needs, especially in the Southeast part of Tucson.

Julia Strange and Heather Beck will explain how TMC will be investing and developing new ways to meet our needs in the Rincon area including reimagined emergency services, a surgery center, and growth to TMCOne.  Eastside residents will see the advantages of using TMCOne for all of their medical needs as current programs are expanded and updated, and new programs are developed in the next several years.

Julia is a member of the board of directors for the Southern Arizona Hospital Alliance and the Affiliated Partners Program, the service corporation of the Arizona Hospital and Healthcare Association.  In addition, she serves on numerous community boards.  In 2016, Julia was awarded the Grassroots Advocate Award for Arizona from the American Hospital Association. In 2018, she was a finalist for the Tucson Women of Influence Lifetime Achievement Award.  She is a 1988 graduate of the Indiana University School of Journalism and received a Master’s in Jurisprudence from Seton Hall School of Law in 2017.

Heather has led and overseen nursing operations and quality improvement initiatives as interim leadership in multiple hospitals. She has over 20 years of experience in the healthcare industry with a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree in Leadership and Management.
Her passion for helping people has been the driving force for her successful career. She loves growing, mentoring, and helping others reach their full potential.
