ASA Great Room at ASA and zoom
Maria Dobozy discovered a comic description of Lucifer’s pride and the fall of the angels in a 14th century medieval German historical chronicle by Jans der Enikel. She found the elaboration of what God was doing before creation to be very entertaining and illustrative of the great curiosity of medieval writers and their audiences about what actually goes on in heaven. Hence, she takes a deep dive into the earliest prehistory, possibly even before the big bang. In his German world chronicle, Jans makes up his own creative, highly entertaining, and literary story. Maria’s focus during her presentation is to analyze the authorial strategies Jans uses to paint a convincing picture about events no human can know.
