Do you know how to tell the difference between a prehistoric stone artifact and a natural rock, or how to identify an archaeological site? In this presentation, Al Dart of Tucson’s nonprofit Old Pueblo Archaeology Center will discuss how professional archaeologists address these questions. He will show many photographs and other illustrations of artifacts and archaeological features. He will bring examples of ancient flaked and ground stone artifacts that we can examine up close, exploring some of the defining attributes that archaeologists use to make these distinctions and identifications.
