There are over 120 Million people forcibly displaced from their homes due to violence or disaster, the highest total in human history. The global relief charity, ShelterBox, believes that shelter is a human right and the foundation for life, survival, stability, and dignity. It often works within the world’s most neglected humanitarian crises, enabling families to stay together, be protected from disease and the elements, and begin the process of long-term recovery. Their impact reaches hundreds of thousands each year and ShelterBox has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Price three times, yet most people have never heard of the organization.
Academy Village resident Bill Tobin will share the ShelterBox story, why their vision of “No one without shelter after disaster” is so important, and how their work is creating peace, one shelter at a time.
