ASA Koffler Great Room and Zoom
Bill peachey does extensive research on over 130 Saguaroes located on a plot of land in Saguaro National Park near Colossal Cave and has been examining and counting the blooms on every one of those saguaros each year since 1997. He plans to share his research regarding a few of the most spectacular insects that depend on saguaro blooms for their survival and how those insects can affect the blooms. In addition, he’ll explain how blooming time co-ordinates or differs from other blooming desert trees like the mesquite and palo verde trees and why saguaros in the Rincon Valley bloom at times different from other areas in our region. He’ll describe the many factors that affect blooming times, number of blooms, and the position of the blooms from year to year.
