Dr. Kathleen Rodgers, Ph.D.: Associate Director of Translational Neurosciences in the Center for Innovation in Brain Science and Professor of Pharmacology, University of Arizona

Wednesday, September 11, 2024,

2:30pm – 3:30 pm,

ASA Koffler Great Room and Zoom

The Center for Innovation in Brain Science is an “all brains on deck” research environment designed for highly-integrated, collaborative research through innovative team science.  Using the brain’s complexity to drive discovery and create precision cures for neurodegenerative disease, investigators bring expertise in Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, Multiple Sclerosis, and ALS.

Dr. Rodgers will convey the mission of the Center, which is to develop cures for age-associated neurodegenerative diseases. She will highlight her work in the development of therapeutics modulating the Mas Receptor with special focus on a novel, orally available, Mas agonist and its effects on Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and ALS.

Dr. Rodgers is a diplomate of the American Board of Toxicology. Her research interests include immunotoxicity, neurodegeneration, the renin angiotensin system, regenerative medicine and drug development. She has 166 peer-reviewed publications, holds 57 patents, mentored 20 students, and maintains a current research portfolio of 13 grants, focused on aging, Alzheimer’s disease and ALS. She currently leads two NIH training grants, including an innovative program designed to train native nation students in the neurosciences.
