Steve Harris

Academy Village Resident

Friday, March 20, 2020,

4:00-5:00 pm,

The Arizona Senior Academy Building

When he was quite a new resident at Academy Village in 2017, Steve Harris gave a well-received talk on
our native cactus and was invited to do a follow-up talk in 2018 on the succulents indigenous to our
community. In his upcoming talk, sponsored by the Open Spaces and Trails Committee, Steve returns
to bring us up to date on our plentiful and varied succulents.

Having reprised his talk on cacti last month, he will now explore the species of agave, desert spoon,
ocotillo, limberbush, beargrass, and yucca that occur naturally in the Rincon Valley area. There will be
slides and time for questions.

Steve and his wife Kathy moved to Academy Village from San Diego shortly after he retired from Federal
Civil Service with the Navy, where he was a Project Manager for Ship Repair and Conversion. He has
been interested in cactus and succulents ever since discovering them growing in his native Washington
state. He and Kathy are long-time members of the San Diego Cactus and Succulent Society, and joined
the Tucson Cactus and Succulent Society after moving to Academy Village.
