David Fitzsimmons is an internationally syndicated editorial cartoonist and weekly columnist for The Arizona Daily Star. A Pulitzer Prize Finalist in 1988, Fitzsimmons has had his cartoons reprinted in USA Today, The Washington Post, The Los Angeles Times, the European press, Time, the International edition of Newsweek, China Daily, and is syndicated in over 700 news sites. His award-winning cartoons in the Arizona Daily Star have drawn fire, ire and praise since 1986.

When he is not at his drawing board slinging ink, Fitz is entertaining audiences with his “Fastest Draw West of the Potomac” presentations. He has given his lively interactive performances, or chalk talks, in many casinos, conference halls, resort meeting rooms, theatres, and schools across the country. He has raised millions of dollars for Tucson’s charities by being the provocative, funny and entertaining master of ceremonies at thousands of charity events.

Included among the many awards Fitzsimmons has received are the Established Artist Lumie (2013), Spirit of Arizona Award (2013), American Advertising Federation of Tucson Golden Pen Award (2006), Arizona Daily Wildcat Hall of Fame (2003), and spanning multiple years, the Arizona Press Club Award for Editorial Cartooning.

David Fitzsimmons attended Rincon High School and then the University of Arizona where he was cartoonist for the Daily Wildcat. Fitz is married, has 3 children, 1 grandchild, and loves reading hate mail from readers, cursing at his television and making his kids laugh.
