Christine Vivona (harp) and Rob Boone (trombone and piano)

Tuesday June 11, 2019, 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m., The Arizona Senior Academy Building

Three instruments, two musicians, one stage! Harpist Christine Vivona returns to the Arizona Senior Academy along with her trombonist/pianist husband Rob Boone to entertain us with an eclectic program of music ranging from jazz and big band favorites to classical gems. Selections will vary from harp and piano solos to trombone and harp duets.

Vivona, whose graduate degrees come from Juilliard and the University of Arizona, is currently principal harp for True Concord Voices and Orchestra, and harp II with the Tucson Symphony. She started the harp program at Arizona State University in 1989, and currently maintains a large private studio in Tucson where she performs each year with her students, who regularly win national competitions. Vivona has also performed with celebrities such as Leonard Bernstein, Sir George Solti, Ray Charles, The Moody Blues, Roberta Flack, Al Jarreau and Linda Ronstadt, to name a few.

Rob Boone is currently on the faculty at Pima Community College where he teaches trombone and jazz piano. He is an active performer, producer, composer, arranger, conductor and copyist who has worked with the Tucson Symphony and Tucson Pops Orchestra as well as Sammy Davis Jr., Ray Charles, Frankie Valli, Johnny Mathis, Bernadette Peters, The Moody Blues and the Ringling Bros. Circus. His recent writing projects have included movie soundtracks for Cruzando, Gun Hill Road, Cold April, Last Night at Angelo’s and Dead West, as well as original soundtracks for plays at the Invisible Theatre.

As a duo, Vivona and Boone perform annually at the Chandler Jazz Festival. Their jazz CD, Family Affair, Live at Brady’s, also features their musical sons Jesse and Cory.
