The Arizona Senior Academy Building
The Arizona Senior Academy has long enjoyed performances by members of the Ronstadt family. Past Academy audiences eagerly anticipated appearances by “Ronstadt Generations y los Tucsonenses,” led by Michael J. Ronstadt (younger brother of Linda) and his sons Michael G. and Petie. Since the passing of “Papa Mike” in 2016, his sons have continued the Ronstadt family’s musical traditions, exploring new partnerships along the way. The Ronstadt family’s history goes back five generations to Mexico in the 19th century and eventually to Tucson, with music-making and public performance always essential components of family traditions.
Petie (Peter Dalton Ronstadt) remains based in Tucson, where he cultivates his many talents as an interpreter of song, as a poet and lyricist, and also as a producer and recording engineer. His current band, “P.D. Ronstadt & The Company,” features a collection of rotating musicians including cousin Bobby Ronstadt, long-time bandmates Alex Flores, Sam Eagon, and Aaron Emery, as well as Ryan Alfred, Matt Roland, Sabra Faulk, Alvin Blaine, Bryan Matyjasik, Michael P. Nordberg and many others. They play music of the “post-modern American West and Tucson Roots,” painting a musical picture of the American Southwest with music from the region and from Mexico, collected favorites, songs of Papa Mike and new songs that draw inspiration from all the elements of Petie’s upbringing,
Papa Mike liked to say, “We hope that as you listen to music passed down through the generations and new compositions flavored with the rich history of our musical heritage, you will be inspired to explore your own history of family, songs and stories, so that these treasures will continue to live on from generation to generation.”
P.D. Ronstadt & The Company promise to take you on a musical journey that will lift your spirits and stir memories.
