Coming to us from Texas A&M University, Corpus Christi, are the Bayview Winds: Diana Sipes (flute), Rachel Messing (oboe) and Scott Pool (bassoon), all professors of music at the university. They will perform pieces ranging from the 18th century Italian composer, Giuseppe Maria Cambini, to contemporary Hungarian Zsolt Gardonyi, American Alyssa Morris, and local Tucson composer Jay Vosk, who has visited the Arizona Senior Academy numerous times over the years as both performer and composer.
Diana Sipes has been principal flutist with the Corpus Christi Symphony Orchestra since 1994 and the Victoria (TX) Symphony Orchestra since 1997.
She earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in music education from the University of South Carolina and her doctorate in flute performance and theory from Louisiana State University. She has won many honors as a soloist and chamber musician.
